Watford Observer Fourteen14 Shield
Abbots Langley secured their place in the semi-finals of the Watford Observer Fourteen14 Shield after a thrilling two-wicket victory over neighbours Kings Langley on Wednesday.
Having dismissed Kings for 92 with Mark Brazier (21) top-scoring in their 14, eight-ball overs, Sam Bailey made an aggressive 43 for rival Abbots.
However, wickets kept tumbling and Abbots found themselves needing eight off the final over. But John Battams saw his side into the last four thanks to a decisive boundary with two balls remaining.
Abbots will now face the winners of Watford Town A and Watford Haidery A after Town (135 for seven) comfortably saw off Haidery B (87 all out) also on Wednesday.
Having restricted Langleybury B to 111 for five, Haidery A reached the quarter-finals with a six-wicket win on Thursday of last week.
Holders Radlett are also through to the last eight wihtout playing after opponents Met Police Bushey were unable to fulfil the date of their scheduled fixture.
