Division Two A

Radlett Seconds made it four wins out of four after beating Holtwhites Trinibis by six wickets.

Holtwhites, batting first, were bowled out for 209. Their innings included three run outs but it was Robin Willis picking up four wickets that led the bowling attack.

Wickets for Lederman, Simeon Cohen and Troy Barrett finished off the innings, while some good keeping from Charlie Nicholls was a key element of the fielding performance of the team, including two stumpings.

Youngster Alex Cook led the way for Radlett and finished on 88 not out. He was well supported by Hugh McDowell (29) and Barrett (30) before Nicholls came to the crease and saw the side home with an impressive 38 not out.

Northwood secured a five-wicket win over Old Owens.

Batting first, Old Owens were restricted to 210 for seven. Dhaval Panchal took two for 33 and Justin Darbon claimed two for 37. Simon Noach, Glyn Woon-Sam and Stuart Reeve all took one wicket apiece.

In reply, Vishnal Vakhani opened with 51 and Simon Noach was run out for 27. The partnership of Woon-Sam (45) and Reeve (43 not out) proved the difference as Northwood reached the target off 47.4 overs.

Division Two B

Bushey clinched a 51-run victory over Hemel Hempstead Town Seconds.

After winning the toss, Bushey elected to bat and they started off positively. Nomaan Ilyas and Naren Gogna put together a free-scoring partnership of 80, reaching 92 in less than 20 overs and a big score looked on.

However Gogna (43) was caught behind and in the next over Ilyas (42) was caught at mid-on. With two new batsman at the crease things changed dramatically.

The rest of the batting order could not get into double figures except for Farouok Khan, who managed 11. Wickets fell at regular intervals and Bushey could only muster 152 all out. Duncan Howard fared best with the ball as he took three for 32.

Bushey kept things tight with Khan and Qamar Shahzad bowling impressively. Khan picked up wickets early on and finished his ten overs with three for 16.

Israr Hussain claimed three for 16 while Mohamed Asif enjoyed a fine spell of three for 25 as Hemel were dismissed for 101. Will Langley was the highest scorer with 28 but there was not enough support from the rest of the line-up.

Abbots Langley earned a 67-run victory over Potton Town.

Chris Chellew was in superb form with the bat, hitting 123 which included 16 boundaries. He was well-supported throughout with useful contributions from Jack Read, Scott Newman and Tom Carson, which took Abbots to 269 for seven.

This total was a challenging one and Potton fell 67 runs short with Nick Gurney's off-spin claiming an excellent five for 30.

Division Three A

Chipperfield Clarendon romped to an emphatic 168-run victory over Wheathampstead.

Losing the toss and being asked to bat, Freddie Hampson (20) set up a steady opening partnership with Alex Moore. Skipper Richard Hudson added 141 with Moore for the second wicket, before the captain was caught for 59. Shaun Jennings then hit 59 not out and Moore was finally removed for 130 as Chipperfield reached 315 for three.

In reply, tight bowling from Samson and Fitzgerald kept the hosts from getting any sort of start. But it was the introduction of Ian Grout (two for 36) and Oliver (two for 34) which really made the contest a one-sided affair, with Bambury (four for 12) finishing the innings off for a total of 147.

Division Four A

Chorleywood Seconds moved to the top of the table with a comfortable 54-run win away at Stevenage Seconds.

Having chosen to bat first, Wood notched a steady if not spectacular 200 for eight from their 50 overs.

Opener Rohan Lee top-scored with his first half-century for nearly a year, hitting 51, while a number of other Wood batsmen got starts but were unable to push on and hit a substantial score.

Wood then put on a disciplined performance with the ball as they bowled the home side out for 146 in 38.5 overs.

Spinner Harry Brooks was the pick of the attack as he took four for 18 from his ten overs and there were two wickets apiece for Andrew Neal (two for 35) and Steve Dellavedova (two for 20) as Wood picked up their third win in a row.

Rickmansworth’s nightmare start to the season continued as they went down by 84 runs against Southgate Adelaide.

The North London side were let off the hook by a number of dropped catches and went on to score 243 all out despite three wickets each for Jason Phillipson and Phil Riddleston.

The ensuing chase was held together by a fine 67 by Vish Rathi, but the shaky start of 40 for five was never recoverable from and only Marc Robinson, with 37, reached double figures to support Rathi as they were dismissed for 159.

Division Five A

Hemel Hempstead Town Thirds battled to a four-wicket win over Preston Seconds.

Preston’s decision to bat first misfired as they could only score 104 all out in 28 overs.

It was not a vintage performance by Hemel with extras contributing 27 and wides equalling the top batting score of 18 from Steve Smith. But they overcame a shaky position at 69 for six to seal the points with four wickets to spare.

Division Five B

Chipperfield Clarendon Seconds won their second successive match with a six-wicket victory over Cockfosters Seconds.

Winnning the toss and bowling first, runs were kept in short supply by the efforts of Mahmood and Durrant, who both remained wicketless, mainly due to poor catching.

The introduction of Graham Gurney (four for 38) and skipper Shawn Mepham (one for 33) made inroads along with Nathan Wiles (two for 14) which restricted the visitors to 172 for nine from 50 overs.

In reply Josh Gurney fell cheaply along with Nigel Cousens (15), but 33 from Wiles, an unbeaten 69 from Mepham and 40 not out from Durrant saw Chipperfield home in 36 overs for the loss of four wickets.
