Langleybury's A team are now just one match away from reaching their first Watford Observer Fourteen14 Shield final in five years after a superb 150-run stand guided them to a thumping nine-wicket win over West Herts last night.

The Hunton Bridge side, who were beaten by Chipperfield Clarendon in the 2010 climax to the competition and have reached four other finals since they last lifted the trophy in 1994, were asked to field after losing the toss.

The Stags scored 148 for six off their 14, eight-ball overs as Lee Stafford claimed four for 44 off his four overs.

In reply, Langleybury lost their first wicket in the first over with four runs on the board. This brought Ross Channer to the wicket to join Habib Alam. The pair then proceeded to score an unbeaten 150 together, with Channer striking a six to win the match to finish on 64 not out and Alam was also unbeaten on 50 as Bury reached 154 for one off 13.1 overs.

Bury will now face the winners of the quarter-final between Shield holders Radlett and Frogmore, who are due to meet on Friday, in the first semi-final at Chipperfield Clarendon on Tuesday, June 23.

The second last-four clash is scheduled to take place two days later at Met Police Bushey. Last year's beaten finalists Abbots Langley are already through, having beaten neighbours Kings Langley last week, and they will take on either Watford Town A or Watford Haidery A. Their quarter-final is due to take place on Wednesday.

The Shield final is due to be played at West Herts on Tuesday, July 7.
