Radlett kept the pressure on leaders Harpenden ahead of their clash on Saturday with a 99-run win over Potters Bar.

Winning the toss on Saturday, Radlett opted to bat first and the decision paid off as they eased their way to a commanding total of 294 for two.

The fireworks started with Joe Cooke as he hit an unbeaten 102 while Shane Burger was also in blistering form, finishing on 104 not out.

Potters Bar were always up against it and never threatened the score as they were bowled out for 195 in 49.3 overs.

Kabir Toor was the pick of Radlett’s bowlers as he claimed four for 24. Rob Clements picked up three for 32 while Matt Creese finished with two for 18 as Radlett made it four wins from their opening five games.

Hemel Hempstead Town remain bottom of the table as their losing run continued with a seven-wicket defeat to Letchworth Garden City.

Batting first, Hemel lost early wickets with Brett Penny dismissed for 11. Jay O’Nien top-scored with 44 and Josh Graves hit 31 but Hemel could only muster 168 for nine.

Letchworth had few problems chasing down the target, achieving this for the loss of three wickets in 35 overs. Penny took three for 20 but this was not enough to help Hemel avoid a fifth consecutive defeat.

Chorleywood finally notched up their first win of the season at the fifth time of asking with a dramatic four-run victory at Stevenage.

Wood chose to bat first and were able to reach a decent, but not imposing, total of 216 all out from 49.5 overs.

Opener Scott Aspinall top-scored with 48 whilst Callum Neal – yet another product of Wood’s colts system – hit an impressive 45 in the middle order. Number ten Josh Ryan’s unbeaten 15 at the end of the innings gave Wood a boost and proved vital as the match wore on.

Stevenage went off quickly in their chase but were pegged back at regular intervals as Wood kept picking up vital wickets.

Peter Dunning followed up his 31 with the bat by taking three for 32 from his ten overs while there were two wickets apiece for Josh Ryan (two for 63) and Ryan Evans (two for 21).

Wood keeper Freddie Dare helped the cause with three catches and a stumping, but Stevenage still only needed seven from the final over of the game.

Tight bowling and athletic fielding meant that the home side could only scramble two singles and Wood squeaked home by just four runs.

West Herts are bottom of the table after slumping to a nine-wicket defeat against Botany Bay.

After being put into bat, West Herts had an innings to forget as they were demolished for just 84 in 33 overs. Barry Marshall opened with 28 and Ian Gurney scored 20 but no-one else made an impact as Bay skittled them out.

The Stags were unable to put any pressure on their opponents with Bay easing to the lowly target in just 14.2 overs. Only Craig Sanders took a wicket to leave West Herts the only side without a win in the division.

Division One

Kings Langley continued their fine run of form with an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Old Finchleians.

After putting the hosts into bat, Kings wasted no time in removing the Finchleians top order with opener Rob Clark helping himself to two for 21 from his ten overs.

Overseas player Dan Donaldson then ripped through the middle order, taking his first five-wicket haul in England before skipper Christian James brought himself on to mop up the tail.

Kings made light work of their 76-run victory target, with young opener David Burnell registering 27 not-out. Alongside Simon Walker (33), he saw Kings safely to victory with half their overs to spare.

Division Two A

Watford Town visited Northchurch and came away with a three-wicket win.

Despite a few dropped catches in the field, Ravi Panchal grabbed two for 36 as Town limited Northchurch to 222 for six over the 50 overs.

A good knock for Waqas Chaudry (36) sent Watford on their way and Yogesh Pujari added to their total with 40 himself.

At 154 for six, Town required 69 with plenty of overs remaining and eventually got over the finish line with just under five overs to spare to end with 224 for seven.

Radlett Seconds took a three-wicket victory home from St Albans.

A fine bowling performance from Michael Lee and a composed batting display from Simeon Cohen ensured Radlett finished their run of limited overs games with a 100 per cent record.

Radlett took to their task well and bowled St Albans out for 157. Ben Lederman picked up three wickets and the middle overs were superbly controlled by Lee (three for 13) from his ten overs.

Late on, captain Daniel Foster produced a run-out from a direct hit to remove the dangerous Phil Caley (47).

The run chase started well and Martin Jones and Graham Dill both hit 37 before Lee (25) and Robin Willis (28) steadied the innings after a few nervy wickets.

Cohen then came to the crease and in a fine display, marshalled the tail effortlessly with 30 not out to see Radlett to their fifth consecutive victory.

Division Two B

Abbots Langley top the division thanks to a comfortable 52-run win over Bushey.

An impressive 249-run total was made thanks to a great knock of 86 from Australian Chris Chellew, while Michael Burgess (47), Scott Newman (46) and Barry Warner (33) added to Abbots’ score.

Nick Gurney was then impressive with the ball as he took three for 31 and Bushey came up short with a total of 197 all out with 11 balls remaining.

Hemel Hempstead Seconds achieved the rare feat of tying their match against Met Police Bushey.

Batting first, Met Police were dismissed for just 102. Bryan Davies was the pick of the bowlers, taking three for 13 while Charlie Hoskins, Rory Fraser and Nick Hodgins each snared two wickets apiece.

Hemel would have fancied their chances of winning but it all went wrong with six of their batsmen out for a duck. Tom Elborn top-scored with 43 but it was left to Adam Moulster to hit 24 as they scrambled their way to a tie.

Ben Goode was in exceptional form for Met Police as finished with figures of seven for 25.
