Radlett stayed top of the Herts Premier Division after a four-wicket win over Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday.

The hosts won the toss and opted to put Hemel into bat. The decision paid off as their opponents were dismissed for 166 in 41.2 overs.

Randeep Sanghera was in superb form with the ball as he took six for 40 from 11.2 overs. He was assisted by Shane Burger, who claimed two for 40, along with Ben Lederman and Rob Clements as they took one wicket apiece. Vibhor Yadav top scored for Hemel on 61 while Jack Doodson contributed 49.

Radlett opener Fraser Crawford made a promising start to their innings as he hit 35 while Kabir Toor added 23. Joe Cooke was their highest scorer on 37 and Clements finished unbeaten on 23. Charlie Nicholls helped steer them to the total, on 14 not out, as the side finished with four wickets to spare after 46.3 overs.

The league leaders face a game against third bottom Hertford this weekend.

Langleybury battled to a 23-run Championship win over second-placed Botany Bay.

Batting first, Langleybury were soon on 25 for three before Chetan Depala (34) and Andrew Cheeseman (11) steadied the ship with a stand of 46. Peter Metcalfe (37), with the help of Richard Soulsby (21) and Richard Oxley (18) took the score to 165 in the 51st over.

Botany Bay started even worse than Langleybury with three wickets down for eight runs as Andrew Cheeseman (three for 43) and Billy Gage (one for 29) took out the top order.

Tim Richards (70) who had earlier taken five for 38, did his best to win the match for Botany Bay. But a steady loss of wickets at the other end left him with one partner and he was finally last out, caught behind off the bowling of Richard Oxley (three for 31).

West Herts suffered a 31-run home defeat to Reed.

The hosts won the toss and opted to put Reed into bat with their opponents managing to score 196 all out from their innings. Aalok Jain was in superb form with the ball as he returned figures of six for 66. Matthew Smith claimed two for 39 and there was one wicket apiece for Simphiwe Yiba and Ian Gurney.

The total certainly looked within range but West Herts got off to a sluggish start and were eventually dismissed for 165. Alastair Lewish hit 19 but the side had to wait for Craig Sanders to top score on 37 in the middle order. Barry Marshall hit 32 and Yiba contributed 35 but these were not enough to prevent the visitors claiming victory to leave West Herts second bottom.

In Division Two A, Radlett Seconds stayed top of the league despite losing by 118 runs to Ickelford.

It was only their second defeat of the campaign and the result cut their lead at the top to 14 points. Ickleford started their innings aggressively Michael Lee (three for 55) claimed the first wicket of the match with the score on 74.

Dan Foster (one for 80) picked up the second but runs kept flowing although Radlett claimed some control back and had Ickleford on 149 for five. Ickleford then pushed on and reached 265 for 9 from their 53 overs.

Ross Carpenter (two for 44) and Robin Willis (two for 42) picked up the rest of the wickets.

The Radlett innings started slowly and never seemed to gather pace against a very good spin attack. Only Neel Malde (28) Hugh McDowell (68) and Robin Willis (16) made it into double figures as Radlett slumped to 82 for seven. McDowell played the conditions exceptionally well and steered Radlett to their first and only batting point before he was caught at first slip. The innings fell away and Radlett were bowled out for only 147.

Division Two B leaders Abbots Langley eased to an eight-wicket win over Cockfosters.

Veteran left armer Matt Dunstone proved his worth once again for Abbots with a fine 15 over spell taking four for 37 which helped limit Cockfosters to 158 all out.

In reply, Chris Chellew once again proved the match winner with a superb unbeaten 94 as Abbots cruised to the total with 15 overs and eight wickets in hand.

Hemel Hempstead Town Seconds earned a 91-run win over Eversholt at Heath Park.

Batting first, Hemel ran up a total of 275 for six. Tom Elborn was in decent nick scoring 77 while Matt Potton chipped in with 44 and Chris Blunt edged his way to an unbeaten 41.

Eversholt came up short as they were bowled out for 184. Bryan Davies was the pick of the bowling attack as he finished with five for 60 and Charlie Hoskins claimed two for 41.
