Division Four A

Rickmansworth lost by seven wickets after being sent into bat by Cheshunt.

Rickmansworth got off to a slow start and found themselves in early trouble at 23 for three. However, a 60 run partnership between Mitch Rosam (42) and veteran Paul Blackwell (46) put the innings back on track.

Despite the efforts of the lower order, Ricky’s total of 177 all out was probably 25 runs short of par.

Although the Rickmansworth bowlers bowled tightly, luck was not on their side, as they were unable to make enough breakthroughs as Cheshunt reached 181 for three in the 46th over, to win with four overs to spare. Majid Khan was the pick of the bowlers with two for 54.

Chorleywood Seconds beat Northwood Town by seven wickets after bowling their opponents all out for just 90 in 42.5 overs. Chorleywood made short work of that, polishing off the total in 25.3 overs.

Division Four B

Ollie Ilot took a double wicket maiden in the first over as Langleybury Seconds won a thriller at Lancot Park.

Dunstable Town won the toss and batted but with Ilott starting so well it was a decision they soon regretted and they were soon five wickets down and in trouble when Lee Pratt (82 not out) and Frank Marshall (34) put a partnership together.

Another partnership with Harry McBrearly (31) helped Dunstable to 176 all out in the 47th over.

In reply, Jonathan Gunning (21) and Stuart Knox (27) got off to a steady start. This was followed by Habib Alam (18) and Andy Felton (22), but no one stayed long enough to put a big score together and Langleybury were staring defeat in the face at 130 for 9.

But Ian Woodward (16 not out), batting at number 11 with a runner, after he trod on the ball while fielding and sprained his ankle, joined man of the match Ilott (25 not out) with a match winning 10th wicket partnership of 49 to win the match.

Just one player managed double figures as Leverstock Green Seconds were embarrassed by Flitwick Seconds.

Tom Callingham scored 24 of his side’s 52 all out with their second highest scorer managing just six.

Their total was made to look even worse because Green actually won the toss and chose to bat. Less than 21 overs later though they were back in the pavilion after being destroyed by Ian Moxon-Booth who took seven wickets for 33 runs.

Leverstock’s bowlers were unable to make the ball do anything for them though and Flitwick only needed to face 60 balls to ease home with the loss of no wickets.

Division Five A

Hemel Hempstead Thirds kept their promotion hopes alive as they completed the double over Hatfield & Crusaders.

Putting Hatfield into bat, Hemel bowled them out for 162, with skipper Anjam Khan taking four for 30 and vice-skipper Adam Moulster two for 53.

Young Aaron Wilson then led the chase with 70 as Hemel reached the target with seven wickets down after 47 overs.

West Herts Seconds beat Watford Town Seconds by 59 runs with Vinesh Gorasia’s 53 the highest individual score of the match. His knock, aided and abetted with 37 from Daniel Paxton and a splendid 42 from number eight batsman Ryan Magee saw West Herts set a total of 178-9 from 53 overs which proved too much for the chasers who were all out for 119.

Division Five B

Asif Padhani’s 53 was in vain as his Chipperfield Clarendon Seconds fell to a six wicket defeat against runaway leaders Hoddesdon.

His knock was the bedrock of his side’s 174 all out from 52.5 overs, while Freddy Hampson (22) and Zac Webb (20) made useful contributions.

It was not enough though to threaten a Hoddesdon side who got home with loss of four wickets thanks in the main to a splendid 69 not out from Ross Angelini.

Division Six A

Kings Langley Seconds returned to winning ways with a hard-fought battle at Hatfield and Crusaders.

Although the hosts got off to a decent start, some tight bowling from Duane Smith, four for nine, and Rob Clark with two for 38, pegged them back quickly which resulted in Hatfield being bowled out for 147 on a wet wicket.

The visitors lost three early wickets but a solid partnership from Matt Langston (23) and Tim Piper (49no) swung the game Kings’ way. When Langston fell, it was left to captain Tom Clark (21) to steer his team home with a timely innings to record a three wicket win.
