Watford bowler Steve Finn's remarkable first Test appearance in two years got even better as England punished Australia to move to the brink of victory in the third Ashes match.

The Middlesex fast bowler took five wickets, to go with two in the first innings, which has put the hosts in complete control at Edgbaston.

Finn is currently on five for 45 from 13 overs in Australia's second innings with the tourists only leading by 23 runs with three wickets remaining.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Finn said: "It feels fantastic. It's been a while since I played Test match cricket so to come here and get a five-for with my game back is a really nice feeling.

"I had a nice rhythm and felt good all game. My first over went for 14 and I was questioning where it disappeared to but after that I settled in okay and bowled some decent balls."

Just as he did in the first innings, Finn took the prized wicket of Steve Smith before removing captain Michael Clarke.

Finn then made it two in two balls by taking the wicket of Adam Voges to leave the home fans delirious.

The 26-year-old also had too much pace for Mitchell Marsh and he picked up his final wicket of the day removing Mitchell Johnson to leave England on the verge of taking a 2-1 series lead.
