Steven Finn moved to within one wicket of his 100th in Test cricket as England ripped through Australia to remove the tourists for 60 in the first day of the fourth Test at Trent Bridge this morning.
The Watford-born paceman had to play second fiddle to Stuart Broad though, as the Nottinghamshire bowler recorded stunning figures of eight for 15 on his home ground to account for the Australian top order.
But Finn, who finished with one for 21 from his six-over spell, bowled wicketkeeper Peter Nevill (2) as Darren Lehmann’s side collapsed to their seventh-lowest Test total and their second-lowest in 79 years.
It took England 25 balls to dismiss the first five Australian wickets, the lowest number since that statistic was first recorded in 2002, whilst the 111 deliveries in the entire first Aussie innings comprised their third-shortest Test innings.
