Division Nine A

Kings Langley Thirds came away with 15 points from their five-wicket defeat to promotion-chasers Greenwood Park.

Asked to bat, Kings made steady progress thanks to Joyce (41) and Russell Knights (43). Some late hitting from Richard Whitlock (35) and Harry Misselbrook (23) helped the hosts post a competitive 223 all out.

In reply, a tentative start gave Kings early hope but all the batsmen contributed as the total was reached with five wickets and nine balls in hand.

Division Nine B

Abbots Langley Thirds earned a 48-run win over Leverstock Green Thirds.

After losing the toss, Abbots were put into bat but the decision backfired as the team scored their most runs of the season.

James Allan combined superb defence with attack as he scored his first ton for the club and was eventually dismissed for 124 following an amazing 25 boundaries. His form helped take his side to a total of 277 for nine.

This score put them in the driving seat and Abbots were able to dismiss their opponents for 229 after 44 overs, with Lee Rossiter taking two for 17, to clinch a satisfying victory.

Division Ten A

West Herts Thirds continued their progress towards the title with a three-wicket home win over Hitchin Thirds.

They were made to work hard for the 30 points though, and with their tenth victory from 13 sit 40 points ahead of third-placed Mill Hill Village Seconds.

Lawrence Dingre (three for 23) and Balaji Chandrababu (three for 32) were the star men for the Stags with the ball and combined to remove the away side for just 130.

And although they got home with three wickets to spare, the hosts made rather harder work of reaching 132 than they ought to have; Rajen Gurung’s 31 making him the side’s top scorer.

Regional Division C West

Kings Langley Fourths fell to a 29-run defeat to Boxmoor Fourths.

Boxmoor managed to score 192 for nine from 47 overs despite Phil Ratliff taking three for 15 and Luke O’Dell returning figures of two for 18.

Kings missed the chance to chase down the target as they were dismissed for 163 in 41.4 overs.

George Hunt top-scored with 57 and Simon Isherwood notched 37 but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

Abbots Langley Fourths edged to a three-wicket win over West Herts Fifths.

Batting first, West Herts were restricted to 153 for nine from their innings after Scott Nixon snared five for 44.

In reply, Ken Parkins hit 56 and was the mainstay of the batting, chasing a moderate total as they reached the target for the loss of seven wickets.
