Steven Finn has been ruled out of the remainder of England’s tour to South Africa.
The Watford-born bowler felt discomfort on the second day of England’s series-clinching third Test victory and scans revealed he is suffering a left side strain.
The former Parmiter’s School pupil has been replaced by Yorkshire’s Liam Plunkett in the One Day International and Twenty20 squads.
Finn tweeted: "Disappointed to be out of the rest of the South Africa tour. Have loved every minute. Bloomin' injuries. Hopefully not too long out."
A statement on the ECB website says Finn will remain in South Africa for a week to begin his rehab before returning home at the end of the Test series.
Despite his latest injury setback, the 26-year-old is expected to be available for the ICC World T20 which begins in March.
Finn missed the entire Pakistan series with a bone stress injury in his left foot and was not in the initial squad for South Africa.
But he proved his fitness during a stint with England Lions in Dubai and forced his way into the XI with a commanding display against South Africa A.
In the first three Tests, the 6ft 7in seamer took 11 wickets at an average of 26.09.
