Radlett are only two wins away from becoming the first side to win an unprecedented third successive Watford Observer Fourteen14 Shield title, but the continued indifferent weather means more changes to the tournament schedule have been made.

The Herts League leaders progressed through to the last four without playing after quarter-final opponents Langleybury A conceded.

Radlett will now meet Leverstock Green A in the semi-finals at Watford Town on Thursday after they beat Frogmore by 77 runs.

Green made 166-4 off their 14, eight-ball overs and then dismissed their opponents for 89.

West Herts are waiting to see who they will face in the other semi-final but the weather means they have had to wait even longer after last week’s quarter-final between Northchurch and Kings Langley was called off.

They will try again on Thursday, but the delay means last Wednesday’s semi-final at Abbots Langley has been rearranged, together with the final that was due to take place at Chipperfield Clarendon on Tuesday, July 5.

The semi-final at Abbots will now be played on Friday, July 8 with the final to take place at Chipperfield Clarendon on Monday, July 11.

The semi-final line-up in the Plate competition is almost complete after three first round games were played last week.

Winners for three of the past four years Watford Grammar School for Boys are one match away from another final after they convincingly beat Langleybury B by nine wickets.

Having restricted Bury to 84, an unbeaten 60 from Simon Phillips enabled the holders to reach the target with ease.

Standing in Watford Grammar’s way in the last four at Chipperfield Clarendon tomorrow will be Leverstock Green B after they defeated Watford Town B by 26 runs.

Green set a challenging total of 165-7 and successfully defended it by restricting their opponents to 139-9.

The prospect of an all-school Plate final moved a step closer after Aldenham School won their derby tie against Aldenham by 12 runs.

Contributions of 43 from Jack Gibbens and Charlie Irish’s 20 enabled the school side to post 127-9.

In reply, Luke Kirsten (3-29) and Tony Reely (3-32) took the majority of the wickets as Aldenham fell short on 117-6.

The remaining first round tie between Bushey and Met Police Bushey is due to be played on Wednesday and the winners will face Aldenham School at Abbots Langley on Tuesday, July 5.
