Leverstock Green lifted the Watford Observer Knockout Cricket Plate for the first time after defeating Watford Haidery B by 33 runs last night.
Having won the toss and deciding to bat Levvy posted a total of 169 for four at Met Police Sports Club, centred around good knocks from openers Brad Klosterman (25) and Richard Walker (27), 47 not out for Dave Tyson and almost as many extras. Ansar Shah (two for 38) and Maz Shah ( one for 24) were Haidery’s best bowlers.
In reply, Watford got off to a slow start and suffered an early setback when opener Saad Sadat was caught behind for 25 in the fourth over with the score at 41.
Maz Shah fell to Klosterman (two for 30) just seven runs later and that brought Haidery legend Nassar Hussain to the crease. Hussain wasted no time settling in, hitting a huge six over mid wicket.
However, nobody was able to stay with the prolific right hander as Haidery tumbled to 99 for five after ten overs, requiring 18 off the final four to win.
It never materialised as some disciplined bowling (Mike Foley two for 34, Adam Thomas two for 38) and strangled fielding from Green restricted Haidery to 136 for nine.
