Radlett were unable to pick up their second Home Counties Premier League Division One win of the season yesterday despite a stunning 210 fourth wicket-stand against High Wycombe.
On a day when more than 600 runs were scored at Cobden Hill, the home side posted a mammoth 346 for eight declared from their 64 overs thanks mainly to exploits of Tom Jenkins and Gareth Berg.
Coming together with the score at 79 for three, wicketkeeper-batsman Jenkins posted 121, while his Middlesex-playing colleague made 117 as the Wycombe bowlers were subjected to a torrid time.
But the visitors underlined the fact that it was a day for the bat by comfortably achieving the draw on 267 for four. Paul Sawyer became the third centurion of the day with an unbeaten 102.
Meanwhile, Hemel Hempstead claimed the first local bragging rights of the season in Division Two East by beating struggling West Herts by four wickets.
The home side’s star opener, Neal Parlane, was unable to make it three consecutive league centuries, although he still made 73 before he was caught and bowled by Hitesh Patel.
However, the Kiwi lacked support, with only two of his team-mates making 20 or more, as the Stags closed on a below par 179 for nine off their 60 overs. Patel was the pick of the Hemel attack with four for 44.
In reply, the batsman who is fast becoming Hemel’s ‘Mr Consistency’ this term, Riccy Mohamed (51), notched his fourth successive half-century in Division Two East, while James Potton’s 56 also helped the visitors home.
