Corbridge joins Chipperfield Clarendon paceman in special Saturday

Met Police Bushey bowler Matthew Corbridge will go into tonight’s Watford Observer Shield final, weather permitting, with his confidence sky high after joining an exclusive club.

Before Saturday, no local player had taken nine wickets in an innings this season, but two players have now achieved that feat after Corbridge joined Chipperfield Clarendon’s Drew McMillan in enjoying a memorable day with the ball.

Corbridge claimed nine for 49 as Hitchin Seconds were dismissed for 178 in the Herts League Division Five encounter, and he then scored a priceless 23 not out to help the Aldenham Road side scrape home by one wicket.

Met Police are due to face Harefield in tonight's climax to the competition at Watford Town's Woodside ground, starting at 6.15pm.
