Radlett and Chipperfield Clarendon have both been celebrating after winning their respective Herts knockout finals at Shenley Cricket Centre yesterday.
But the manner of their victories could not have been more contrasting.
While Radlett were demolishing Potters Bar by 103 runs to lift the Herts Cup for a record-equalling fifth time, Chipperfield edged out Redbourn by just three runs to claim the Herts Trophy.
Radlett were not at their destructive best with the bat, but their 212 for eight still proved far too much for their Home Counties Premier League Division One rivals, who were dismissed for just 109.
Heath Paynter did most of the damage with three for 35, while Kabir Toor, who had earlier top-scored with 43, joined Stuart Browne and Paul Barker in taking a wicket each to ensure the Cobden Hill side pulled level with Welwyn Garden City’s five wins in the competition.
In the Trophy final, Watford Observer Plate winners Chipperfield successfully defended 205 for eight, as their Herts League Division Three promoted opponents responded with 202 for nine.
