Steve Finn will be hoping to get his chance to impress on the limited overs stage again after being named in the one-day and Twenty20 squads against Pakistan.
The Watford-born fast bowler was selected in the Test squad, but did not play in any of the matches as Andrew Strauss’ men suffered an embarrassing 3-0 whitewash in the UAE.
The tourists will now be aiming to restore some pride in the four one-day internationals, from February 13 to February 21, followed by three Twenty20 fixtures before the end of this month.
Although the 22-year-old Middlesex bowler has played only one Test since the last Ashes series, he was England’s stand-out performer with the ball during their disappointing one-day series in India in October and has taken a total of 15 wickets at an average of almost 36 in that form of the game.
National selector Geoff Miller said: “We have selected two squads that include both experienced international players and younger players who have performed strongly for England Lions in recent months and deserve an opportunity to further test themselves against quality opposition.
“Playing against Pakistan in the UAE will be challenging but it is important that these players continue to develop their skills so that we are able to make strides in limited-overs cricket, particularly on the sub-continent.”
