Bristol Academy Reserves v Watford Ladies Reserves (Southern Division 1)

Watford Ladies Reserves travelled to Bristol this weekend for what promised to a tough match with Bristol fielding a starting line up which included a few of their first team players.

The game started with rushed and scrappy play from both teams but as the young Watford side began to find their feet they settled to play some neat football. Though Bristol used their height advantage in set pieces, and threatened the visitors they never seriously tested Lauren Davey in goal. Half time score 0-0.

The second half started in a similar fashion and the less experienced Watford side certainly matched their opponents. Megan Wynne, as ever worked tirelessly up and down the right wing causing problems for the Bristol defence but, in scrappy end to end play, Bristol took the lead as their centre headed the ball into the roof of the net.

Within 5 minutes Watford equalised from the boot of Natkiel to make the sore 1-1 before the home team retaliated following a fine run from the Bristol left winger. With Bristol back in front and Megan Wynne was again causing problems for the home defence when she was brought down in the box and a penalty kick from Kate Natkiel found the back of the net.

2-2.

With just two minutes to go, and a draw seemed possible, Bristol scored off a corned to make the final score 3-2.

Manager Sam Perrin said after the game "I'm proud of my girls today. In what turned out to be a stronger than normal Bristol Reserves side, we were never out classed, and gave our utmost to correct the errors from last week. Kate Natkiel grows in confidence every time she plays and that showed again this weekend as the 17 year old grabbed herself 2 more goals up against two Welsh International centre backs. Overall I am happy, although we still need to work on a few things"
