Harts brave the snow to vanquish the Belles

The match began in a veritable blizzard with the visitors Watford fielding only eight players with the remainder stuck in a traffic jam on the A1.

Despite being a player down it was Watford who quickly had the upper hand. Watford were faster on the attack and had more possession and were unlucky not be in front by the half-time interval.

An unfortunate decision by Hitchin to change their goalie at the start of the second half was followed by three quick goals from Watford. This led Hitchin to reverse their goalkeeping arrangements back to the way it was but with Watford clearly now in the ascendancy a fourth goal shortly followed. The home side added a consolation goal just before the end.

There could have been more goals from Watford but the forwards fell foul of the offside rule several times as they attacked en mass against a sluggish Hitchin defence.
