Watford Ladies U12 Hornets clinched the U12 Division 2 league title, with two matches to spare, following a 4-0 win over Hemel Hempstead Ladies.

Watford went into the match knowing that 3 points would seal a well deserved league title. However despite dominating possession for much of the first half, Watford could not find the finishing touch on a boggy pitch that gradually got worse as the match went on. Many chances were made but confident goalkeeping from the Hemel number 1 kept the Hornets at bay.

At the half time whistle the score line was a 0-0.

Carly’s half time chat paid dividends and within five minutes of the restart Watford found the opening goal they had been seeking. Izzy found herself in space about 15 yards out and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner. 1-0 Hornets.

This goal spurred the Hornets on as they went looking for their second and didn’t have long to wait and Danielle calmly slotted home a left foot strike to put the Hornets 2-0 up.

The Ladies were now playing some sparkling football and their third goal was the move of the match. Starting from a short goal kick by Hayley, Ellie found Harriet who played a great pass deep into the Hemel half. After good work from Iffy, the ball fell to player of the match Izzy who slotted the ball into the bottom corner for 3-0.

Nothing was stopping them now and Watford were now peppering the Hemel goal and number 4 finally came as Iffy finished off a good move by wrong footing the keeper with a low shot. 4-0 Hornets As the final whistle blew, the celebrations commenced both on and off the pitch as the Ladies realised what hey had done.
