With news that Watford’s team Captain, Emma Feenstra, will be laid up for several weeks with a knee injury, compounded with other players unavailable for this fixture, Watford were expecting this away match with Hemel Hempstead to be difficult.

Watford and Hemel Hempstead played an ‘end to end’ stale mate on the muddy pitch until the half time whistle.

With real scoring opportunities being few, with good defending by both teams, until Watford were caught on the break by the Hemel striker, The shot was initially saved off the line by defender Charlie Reeve, who fell when her foot got stuck in the muddy goal mouth, and the Hemel player tapped the ball into the goal.

This goal boosted the Hemel player’s confidence and they raised their game and goal number two came swiftly. The Ladies threw ‘caution to the wind’ pressing forward to win back the game and were rewarded when Olivia Selley, ‘player of the match’, assisted Emily Pimlott in her great goal from 20 yards out on the right.

With only minutes to play, Watford again took a massive gamble with all yellow shirts on the attack, but Hemel came off better when a clearance shot resulted in a shot on the undefended Watford goal.

This was a meeting of two evenly matched teams which resulted in a 3-1 victory to Hemel Hempstead.
