Watford Harts U13 Defending League Cup Champions Watford Ladies Harts Under 13s took on an improving St Joseph’s on Saturday in Harrow.

Watford took control for the first 10 minutes with St Joseph’s unable to get out their own half as Watford passed the ball for fun making chances but not converting these into goals.

St Joseph’s gradually came back in to the game and took the lead against the run of play with a low shot that crept over the line. Watford hit back 10 minutes later when a ball was played by Julia Waller through to Izzy France who turned the ball home.

In the second half Watford took a 2-1 lead after a quick throw from Megan Grace set free Julia Waller, who poked the ball home.

St Joseph’s came back again and were awarded a controversial penalty from which they scored.

Watford responded positively to this set back and Beth Turnbull was unlucky with a powerful header that whistled over the bar directly from a corner.

A great sequence of midfield play from the ever capable Megan Grace and Maddie Gorton set free Amy Dewar to cross to a well placed Courtney Blythe who safely delivered the ball into the net.

A great free kick from Megan worked the St Josephs goalkeeper before a handball in the area by St Joseph’s gifted Julia the opportunity to slide in a penalty to make the final score 4-2 to Watford.

There were some impressive performances today across the board and the girls should be learning by now that possession is 9/10th of the law, and they all play their part in that. Player of the match was Courtney Blythe.
