Watford Wasps U13 With a team decimated by illness this week, Bury took the lead early on. Watford put up a real battle, just about matching our opposition in every department. Bury doubled their lead early in the second half and the Wasps looked dead and buried but then came a moment that will go down in Wasps folklore. Rachel Pickett picked up the ball near the halfway line and just went for it, she dribbled and jinked passed all the defenders in her way before calmly curving the ball past the Bury Keeper into the net. This was just like Michael Owen's wonder goal against Argentina at the World cup in 1998, except better!!!

Wasps tried all they could to level the game. Sammi frequently driving into the box and making the defenders work so hard. Sophie in her brand new shiny boots was unlucky to see her shot beat the Keeper but also agonisingly it went just the wrong side of the post. Lauren challenging for everything in the middle of the park. In an all out effort to rescue the game we swapped Hot shot Meg for Sophie, making her our third Goalie of the game but sadly we couldn't force an equaliser. Then in the last few seconds Bury scored from a penalty and the game was up. We certainly get good entertainment at our games. G.O.G. Rachel Pickett, well done, you were brilliant.
