Watford Football Club has announced the appointment of Sean Dyche as first team manager. The hornets have also confirmed the signing of Craig Forsyth on a 3 year deal from Dundee. A minority of the Watford fans are never pleased with the promotion of assistant manager to manager yet I struggled to see any better applicant for the Watford helm. This is why I think Bassini has done the right thing in appointing Dyche as manager: • Sean Dyche knows the club inside out which will help him undertake the role left by Malky Mackay who exited for Cardiff. He’ll recognize the present finances available should understand which formation suits the team best along with distinguishing who the better players are at the club.

• The players know him well and will most probably have respect for him which is crucial if he wants to be a success in his first managerial job.

• Dyche will know the transfer targets of Mackay and can still pursue them as he has done with the signing of Forsyth who was a target of the old hornet’s boss.

• Dyche has seen how Mackay started his managerial career with Watford and can copy the things he did well.

Several concerns have been voiced by Watford fans since Laurence Bassini bought the club and the exit of Will Buckley, Danny Graham, Julian Winter and Mackay will not have helped this. However, the way Bassini has included Chairman Graham Taylor in all of the vital decisions has been very promising including the decision to offer Dyche the manager’s job as it shows he has the club’s best interests at heart.

Dyche will now have to build his team quickly and prepare for pre-season which starts on the 1st of July. Expect a few more signings this summer and look forward to a new season with a new manager! Good luck Sean!
