Watford Football Club has announced the appointment of Sean Dyche as first team manager. The hornets have also confirmed the signing of Craig Forsyth on a 3 year deal from Dundee. A minority of the Watford fans are never pleased with the promotion of assistant manager to manager yet I struggled to see any better applicant for the Watford helm. This is why I think Bassini has done the right thing in appointing Dyche as manager: • Sean Dyche knows the club inside out which will help him undertake the role left by Malky Mackay who exited for Cardiff. He’ll recognize the present finances available should understand which formation suits the team best along with distinguishing who the better players are at the club.

After Tuesday’s draw to Norwich and Saturday’s defeat to Hull City, Watford’s play off dreams are all but over. The Hornets lay seven points off sixth place and would most probably have to win their five remaining games to have any hope of snatching sixth place or higher.

On a bitter cold Tuesday night, Watford were at home to Ipswich Town in a Npower Championship League match. For this match, I was lucky enough to sit in the press box and interview a player of my choice once the game had drawn to a close. As part of my journalism course at West Herts College, I have to write an article for each edition of the college magazine, so I thought that a review of an interview with a Watford player would be a great piece to go in the sport section.

During Pakistan’s cricket tour of England earlier this year, seven players were accused of match fixing by the British tabloid newspaper News of the World. On the third day of the fourth test, the paper published an article stating that Mazhar Majeed had accepted a £150,000 bribe from an undercover reporter. In return Majeed confirmed that two Pakistani bowlers, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir would deliberately deliver no balls at specific points during the match. Mazhar Majeed is a cricket agent who is now under police investigation at Scotland Yard.

With the new season soon arriving, things at Vicarage Road are starting to settle down. The financial position has cleared up partially due to the loan and as Watford managed to avoid relegation last season, people have started to relax and relish the World Cup in South Africa.

Tom Cleverley will be back in the Watford team tomorrow after completing a 3 match ban. The Hornets take on Peterborough at Vicarage Road and desperately need the three points. Will Buckley could be called up to the squad but it looks doubtful. Other than that there are no fresh injury concerns for Malky’s men. Watford lay only two points off the relegation zone, yet a win in tomorrow’s match could lift them up to 16th providing other results go their way.

After four months of being in the hot seat at Reading Football Club, Brendan Rodgers has left by mutual consent. But reports suggest the Northern Irishman has been sacked which is most probable after the Royals have started the season poorly, hovering above the relegation zone. The fans have been frustrated with the poor home form of late, having just won one game out of eleven.

Watford will be travelling to Ipswich tomorrow (Tuesday), without Heidar Helguson. The fans favourite has been out for a month since he stretched his calf in the 3-3 draw with Leicester City at Vicarage road. The Icelandic striker scored two goals on his second debut for the hornets despite coming on as a substitute and going off with an injury. John Eustace however, is back in the squad after food poisoning.

So with the transfer window shut Watford FC find themselves without three of last season’s most influential players. Tommy Smith, Tamas Priskin and Mike Williamson all left Vicarage Road for sums of money all believed to be over 1.5 million pounds. Smith and Priskin combined together to score a total of 27 goals last season, proving themselves as great partnership under Watford old boss, Brendan Rodgers.

High hopes were in store for the Watford, Swansea match after the outstanding performance against Chelsea. It was another cold, dry night at Vicarage Road and I arrived early for the match, in excitement of the prospect of Don Cowie making his full debut, after signing from Inverness Caley Thistle. As you may well know, Inverness Caley is my Scottish team as my aunty lives there and I was excited because any link between the two clubs is unusual.

On Sunday 1st February, I went to bed expecting a lot of snow to be there in the morning. I realised the snow in the morning would settle as there was a sprinkle of snow, that night which was covering the floor. This meant that the heavy snow in the night would lay just on top of that!

Dorothy sympathises with those who will have to pay the extra £2 per day to park. Will that sympathy turn into action, or is it just sympathy? I'm sure all the people who work there and have to stump up the extra cash - £480 per year - will be thankful of her sympathy. There must be a better way.
