Kings Langley Ladies missed out on moving into top spot in Beds & Herts Women’s League Division Three after suffering a heavy 10-2 defeat at Bedwell Rangers Ladies.

The hosts started strongly and Langley goalkeeper Vicki Taylor was forced into an early stop.

Kings began to assert some pressure on the Rangers goal and good work between Amy Earthrowl and Kim Nield allowed Jess Earthrowl space to shoot, but she failed to trouble the Bedwell stopper.

Rangers then took control and despite the best efforts of Taylor, they found the net on six occasions.

Nield pulled a goal back for the visitors shortly before the break but Kings went in at the interval 6-1 behind.

Bedwell remained in control in the second half and the home side added two more goals in the space of six minutes.

With 20 minutes remaining, Nield grabbed Kings’ second but Bedwell finished strongly and scored their ninth soon after.

The hosts reached double figures in the closing moments but Kings had the last attempt, only for Kerry Osborne to head harmlessly over the crossbar.

Kings will look to get back to winning ways when they host Evergreen Eagles, at Dacorum Running Track, on Sunday.

Watford Ladies weren’t in action last weekend but they face Barnet Ladies on Sunday and are asking supporters to attend in festive fancy dress.

The Hornets, who are unbeaten in their last ten matches, sit second in the Women’s Premier League and those who turn up in festive attire will receive a discount, with adults paying £2, while admission is free for children.
