Sun Postal Sports manager Paul Hobbs says the pressure is on Kings Langley on Saturday when the two sides go head-to-head.

Kings Langley host Sun Postal in the stand-out fixture in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One and Hobbs believes all the pressure is on third-placed Kings.

With five matches to play, Sun Postal sit top of the table with a six-point buffer between themselves and Kings Langley, who do have the advantage of a game in hand.

“The boys are just really looking forward to it,” said Hobbs.

“They [Kings Langley] need to win more than we do, so we’ll be going there looking not to get beat.

“They will be right up for it because they have to win.”

Hobbs continued: “There’s been a bit of banter going on Twitter in the build-up this week, but that is what it’s all about. We’ve beaten them twice already this season.

“Our record against them [two wins from two] counts for nothing at this stage. We’ve played a lot of football up to now and it’s just another game as far as we’re concerned and there’s still a long way to go.”

Despite trailing Sun Postal in the league standings, Kings do hold the advantage when it comes to goalscoring, having scored an impressive 121 goals in 32 league fixtures – an average of 4.1 per game.

Hobbs isn’t concerned though and can point to his own side’s formidable record in front of goal, which has seen them net 107 times – the third-highest in the league.

“We don’t concede many, so it’s the best two attacking sides in the division the best two defences in the division – so yes, we’re nailed on for a 0-0,” joked Hobbs.

Sun Postal played on Tuesday evening, winning 2-0 at Baldock Town thanks to a brace from Daniel Tompkins, but were not in action last weekend.

Kings Langley, on the other hand, will have played twice in the week leading up to this clash, but Hobbs doesn’t feel that his side will benefit from their lighter schedule.

“We didn’t play at the weekend, but at this stage of the season it doesn’t matter,” he said. “We trained, but we’d have preferred to have played to be honest, so it’s no advantage to us.”

Hosts Kings Langley are in ominous form ahead of the encounter, having posted back-to-back 6-0 victories in the last week.

Wednesday saw Ritchie Hanlon and Paul Hughes’ side crush Wodson Park away from home, with goals coming from Mitchell Weiss, Nick Jackson and braces from Connor Toomey and Billy Stevens.

That win built on another resounding victory at home to Codicote on Saturday.

Paul Insley helped himself to a hat-trick, whilst Tom Carter, Alex Campana and Weiss also got in on the act.

Hobbs will be able to welcome back Omar Vassell for tomorrow’s game, the forward has recovered from illness in time to be considered.

There is further good news for Craig Lynskey and Colin Wilson, both of whom are expected to have overcome foot problems picked up in midweek to feature.
