Watford Joggers’ Colin Taylor finished first in the MV55 age group in the five-mile Anniversary Run to commemorate the London 2012 Olympics.

Taylor completed the course, which traversed iconic venues from the London Games, in 32.41 and ended 71st overall out of 3,300 competitors.

Elsewhere, Watford Harriers' coach Mike Dixon was the club’s best performer at last weekend’s St Albans 5k Parkrun.

Dixon, now in his 70s, beat 17-year-old Corey Keane (18.48) according to the handicapping - despite being around five minutes slower statistically with a run of 24.16.

Corey’s father Maurice and brother Callum ran PBs over the 5k distance, achieving 20.06 and 20:50 respectively.

Paul Illing clocked 21:31 for 59th place while Colin Hamlet continues to return to fitness after years of suffering from a niggling hamstring problem, he crossed the line in 99th at 23.25.
