Two late goals cost Oxhey Jets dearly as they were beaten 2-0 at home to Cockfosters in the South Midlands Premier Division on Tuesday night.

The Jets looked on course for a stalemate until Craig McKay fired the visitors in front in the 85th minute.

Oxhey pushed forward in search of an equaliser but an injury-time effort from Adem Ali ended their hopes.

It was a much better story on Saturday when Oxhey eased to a 4-1 home win over Bedfont & Feltham in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase.

The Jets dominated the first half and a 2-0 lead was the least they deserved at half-time.

The opening goal came just after the half-an-hour mark when Eoin Casey netted. Oxhey doubled their lead after 42 minutes when Lee Armitt fired home via the post.

Armitt added a third goal midway through the second half when he scored from close range. It was 4-0 when Casey set up Luke Beardsworth and he gave the keeper no chance.

Janel Velinor scored a late penalty but it could not take the gloss off a comprehensive home win.

Oxhey will visit Long Buckby in the next round.

Sun Postal Sports edged to a 1-0 Premier Division win at home to St Margaretsbury on Tuesday.

Scott Bonner fired home the winner in a tight clash.

It was their second league victory of the week after they won 3-0 at Kings Langley on Saturday.

Jack Pattison was sent off for handling the ball after an attempted header off the line struck his arm. Ashley Lewis punished them by tucking away the penalty in the fourth minute.

The visitors extended their lead before the break when Nathan Pooley scored a spectacular volley.

Simeon Fearon finished off the scoring in the last ten minutes when he fired home to end Kings Langley’s unbeaten start.

Leverstock Green fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Wembley on Tuesday after goals from Wayne Walters and Joe Wright.

Green were also beaten 2-0 at Tring Athletic on Saturday.

Stewart King fired Tring in front before Taylor Collins sealed the points for the league leaders.

Athletic followed this up with a a 2-1 win at Hillingdon Borough on Tuesday night for their fifth victory in a row.

The visitors found life difficult early on against a resolute Hillingdon team.

Boro should have taken the lead when Danilson Vicente ran onto a through ball and rounded the keeper but was denied by a defender.

But the hosts opened the scoring before the break when Vicente found space in the area to volley home.

Tring played with much more urgency in the second half and Chris Vardy almost equalised but his effort was saved by keeper Connor Spaans.

Their pressure was rewarded with a 73rd-minute goal when Taylor Collins teed up Vardy and he blasted him from close range.

It looked like the table-toppers would have to settle for a point but in injury-time Kevin McManus played the ball into the area and substitute Stewart King scored the winner.

Berkhamsted are keeping up the pressure on the league leaders after a 3-2 win at Hertford Town on Tuesday left them second in the table.

BJ Christie was their star player as his hat-trick fired them to victory.

A lively start saw the visitors open the scoring after just two minutes when a cross was swept home by Christie.

Berko doubled their goal tally after 15 minutes when Josh Chamberlain released Christie and his shot beat keeper Harry Ricketts.

It looked like the visitors had clinched the points when Christie netted his third of the game.

But Hertford produced a spirited response and pulled one back when Jordan Watson scored.

The home side set up a tense finale when Teguna James netted a penalty but Berkhamsted held on for the win.

It was their second victory this week after beating London Tigers 2-1 at home last weekend in the FA Vase.

The opener came just before the break when Chamberlain punced on a mistake to score from close range.

Berko extended their lead after the restart when Frankie Jowle’s cross was headed home by Adiel Mannion.

The Tigers were reduced to ten men when their keeper was sent off for bringing down a forward but full-back Terry Whitman saved Chamberlain’s effort from the penalty spot.

Ali Soussi netted for the visitors but Berko claimed the victory which earned them a trip to Newport Pagnell Town next month.
