Alex Campana struck late to earn Kings Langley a derby-day point in a 1-1 draw with Berkhamsted in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.
It was Berkhamsted who opened the scoring on twelve minutes when Charlie Hoskins’ clearance was intercepted by B.J Christie. Jack Pattison made a superb recovery tackle, but the ball fell kindly to Adiel Mannion to convert.
With eight minutes left, Luke Ladyman chased a long pass to the left hand corner flag and his cross was helped on to Campana by a Langley head. The striker collected the ball, turned a defender and angled a low shot into the far corner of the net.
Jamie Gavin missed an opportunity and Hoskins turned a James Baldry piledriver over the bar as the two sides ended the contest level.
On Tuesday, Kings exited the Spartan South Midlands Cup at the first round stage, going down 2-1 at Biggleswade United.
For the second time in three matches, Kings conceded a penalty in the first five minutes. Handball from Ladyman led to a penalty, which was tucked away by Jack Boyd.
At the other end, Kings moved the ball well and had their share of chances but could not force and equaliser.
In the 57th minute, Boyd’s second effectively settled the tie. Kings found a consolation when Mitchell Weiss headed home a Campana corner in injury time but it was too little, too late.
Kings are away to St Margaretsbury next Saturday in league action.
