Tabard started their London Two North West season with a 22-17 home defeat to Chiswick last Saturday.

Scores by Chiswick either side of half-time swung the game in favour of the visitors at Cobden Hill but Tabard battled hard to the end, eventually securing a thoroughly deserved bonus point. The hosts took the lead when Gerald Arasa set up Joe Calnan and he burst through the defence to score under the posts for the converted try.

A penalty in their favour, after Chiswick were caught offside, enabled Sam Barrow to kick Tabard into a 10-0 lead.

Just before half-time a speculative chip through evaded the Tabard defence only for the ball to bounce up and allow Chiswick in under the posts for the converted try.

With the final play of the half Chiswick added a penalty and were grateful to go into the break on level terms.

Chiswick started the second half the stronger and continued to add points with a well-taken try edging them in front for the first time.

The visitors piled on the pressure and their forwards barged their way over the line to extend their lead to 22-10.

Chiswick came under pressure as they received two yellow cards. Tabard refused to accept defeat and Arasa broke through to score the converted try.

But it proved in vain as Chiswick held out for victory.

Tabard Ladies beat Old Cats 35-12. The Under-16s beat Watford in their first friendly of the season but the Under-15s lost to Hemel Hempstead.
