Fullerians got their London Three North West season off to a promising start after a 25-17 home win over Hitchin on Saturday.

Fullers deservedly took the lead after 15 minutes when full-back Dan Evans unselfishly put winger Liam Mann in at the corner.

It was not long before they added a second try when Craig Duncan set up Kieran Cavanagh.

Fullerians were in command and the third score came from a catch and drive from the lineout. The Fullers pack powered over the line with Leandre le Roux getting the final touch which gave them a comfortable 19-0 lead at the break.

Fullers conceded too many penalties in the second half and Hitchin got back in the match with a couple of tries including a penalty try for persistent offside.

But the home side responded and a penalty from Duncan eased their worries and ensured they had some breathing space. Another Duncan penalty sealed the win and an encouraging start to the season.

Watford Seconds opened their campaign with a 39-19 win over Verulamians Seconds in Merit Table Five.

A bright start for the hosts saw full-back Dunlop open the scoring with a converted try. Flanker Mike Jenkins stole the ball for Watford and set up Luke Diston who raced the length of the pitch to make it 12-0.

Man-of-the-match Jenkins then drove over the line for a third try which gave them a 17-0 advantage.

Verulamians replied with a score before half-time but prop Wilson added another Watford try after the restart.

Two quick scores from the visitors narrowed the gap to just three points briefly.

Watford stepped up a gear and forward Martin Lee powered over before scrum-half Ollie Hopkins added another try. Skipper George Hicks rounded off the scoring for Watford with a late effort.
