Birkdale Trophies Challenge Cup Round One Second Leg

The tie between Dynamo Croxley and Watford Labour Club went into the second leg finally balanced at 2-2, but it was Watford who easily made it into the next round with a fine 6-0 away victory on Sunday.

Paul Collett scored the first from close range after a Mark Hofman cross. Chris Bignell made it two after heading home a Charles Linsley corner. Collett then completed a first-half hat-trick with two headed goals from Bignell long throw-ins.

In the second half a James Aherne penalty and a Hofman goal completed the rout.

Bovingdon’s good start to the new season continued as they scored five goals for the third game running with a simple 5-0 win over WD Athletic, making the aggregate score 10-2.

Tommy Gray scored a hat-trick with the other goals coming from Chris Truman and Mark McNicholas.

Premier Division

Hertfordshire Lions and Old Danes Athletic shared the points after a 3-3 draw.

It was Lions who made the better start and took the lead through Mitchell Holt, but Danes levelled through a long-range effort from Lewis Chappell Van Glist. However, another goal from Holt and a header from Jamie Balmer put Lions in charge before half-time.

The second half saw a much-improved performance from Old Danes and they fought back to take a point thanks to goals from Colin Spooner and Ross Bennett.

Prince George enjoyed a 3-1 win over Meriden Ballers thanks to a Luke Everett double, supported by a goal from Tom Minton.

Donovan Lewis scored the Ballers goal from the penalty spot, which had tied the scores at 1-1 at half-time.

It was a very close affair between Inter and Bushey Grove, as Grove edged to a 2-1 victory.

Dan Kenna scored for the home side, with the Bushey goals coming from Paul Kenwright and Harrison Jones.

Division One

United beat Carpenders Park Rangers Reserves 5-3 after the game had been effectively won by half-time, with the home side leading 4-1.

Darren O’Brien and Matt Byrne both scored a brace each, with Lee Woodward the other player on target for United.

Harley Mead netted two goals himself for Carpenders Park and Gavin Bowen also netted.

Honours ended even as Roundbush and Bedmond drew 1-1.

Tedi Prushi gave Bedmond the lead in the first half and his goal looked to have been enough to take all three points until a late equaliser from Blaise Shervington ensured Bush earned a point.
