West Herts continued their upward momentum by thumping Bromley & Beckenham 5-1 to pick up their second win of the season, and rise to third, in the NOW: Pensions National League East.

The deadlock was broken in the 15th minute of Sunday’s game when Harry Benjamin burst down the right and picked out Max Webster to cross; Neil Dolphin the man on hand to finish from close range.

Bromley & Beckenham levelled before the break and though the Stags came close, it was not until Dan Webster beat four defenders and picked out Terry Kynaston to slot home, that they re-assumed the lead.

Two identical goal from Dan Webster then gave West Herts breathing space, before Phil Clay claimed the fifth following a flowing team move.

West Herts Seconds came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw at East London.

Todd Harris gave the Stags the lead, before two goals from the hosts turned the game in their favour.

Paul Macioca dragged West Herts level though, ensuring a draw before the game ended in a flurry of yellow cards.

West Herts Fourth were comfortable winners at St Albans Fifths – winning 3-0 thanks to strikes from Chris Currie, Richard Millington and Nils Mundy.

The Fifths lost out by the odd goal in five at home to Hertford Thirds, with Rob Angel and Joe Higgins efforts not enough for the hosts.

An understrength West Herts Sixths were punished at merciless Bishop’s Stortford, who were 10-0 winners on a miserable afternoon for the Stags.

In the Ladies East Premier, West Herts beat newly-promoted Wapping 1-0 on Sunday.

Chances came and went early on and the two sides were goalless at the break, before Helen Humphrey struck in the 65th minute, following in after Becky Perry’s initial shot was saved.

Judith Duffin almost added a second, but West Herts held on to claim the win.

West Herts Ladies Seconds were 3-0 winners at Bedford Thirds, with a strong second-half showing securing back-to-back successes.

Laura Payton, Tanita Montgomery and Ishani Welmillage got the goals to ease the visitors to victory.

Hayley McNeill’s goal was no more than a consolation as the Ladies Thirds were beaten 3-1 at Aylesbury Seconds.

The Fourths overcame a late kick-off and a kit clash to beat Tring Seconds 2-0, with Sheena Hambleton and Samantha Blissett scoring.

For the second consecutive game, the Fifths scored seven, Letchworth Fifths unable to muster a reply in a one-sided contest.
