Old Merchant Taylors’ began their league campaign by losing out by the odd goal in nine.
Goals from Stuttaford, Flower, O’Brien and Gray were not enough for OMT, who came up just short in a 5-4 loss at Wycombe.
The season began in disappointing fashion for the Seconds, who were beaten 5-0 at Bicester Firsts.
Trailing 4-0 at the break, a much-improved second period saw OMT concede just one more.
Also on the wrong end of a hiding were the Thirds, who lost 7-0 at home to Bicester Seconds; the new-look OMT side punished mercilessly by their visitors.
There was however a win for the Fourths, who beat Oxford Sixths 1-0.
Ian Lomas got the goal in the first half from a short corner and a fine performance from goalkeeper Dan Grundy helped preserve OMT’s lead.
OMT Countesses fell to defeat in their first league match of the season, beaten 3-0 by Teddington Fifths.
The Duchesses also came up short, narrowly missing out in a 2-1 defeat at home to Winchmore Hill and Enfield Seconds, with Michelle Coupar pulling one back for the hosts.
