Watford Water Polo Club Seconds were on the verge of capturing the London League Division Three title tonight despite suffering a 15-10 defeat to Enfield on Wednesday.

The club travelled to Guildford this evening and knew a win or draw would be enough to secure the Championship and seal promotion to Division Two.

Watford could have won the title yesterday but slipped to their first defeat of the season as they went down 15-10 against Enfield.

Jack Pickford was in fine form as he scored seven, Alun Dorrington grabbed a brace and Dan Kattan netted the other Watford goal.

The club’s success has been recognised at County level as nine Watford players have been named by Hertfordshire in their 13-man squad for the East Region Junior Inter-Counties tournament on Saturday, November 1. The players selected are Karan Basu, Alex Norcliff, Hamish Hudson, Paul Botje, Louis Walochek, William Keegan, Ross Leon, Joshua Silverbeck and Matt Rosenfeld.

This weekend the club’s Under-15 team will travel to Manchester to compete in the British Gas ASA National Age Group Water Polo Championships.

Watford are drawn in Group A and will play five matches.

They take on Exeter, last year’s winners Manchester, City of Sheffield, Chelmsford and Cwm Draig.
