Premier Division

A full investigation will be launched by the Hertfordshire Football Association after the game between Bovingdon and Bushey Grove was abandoned after 22 minutes following a mass brawl involving all 22 players on Sunday.

Bovingdon were leading the contest 1-0 when the brawl broke out. Both an ambulance and the police were called and a 31-year-old from Hemel Hempstead was arrested. After statements were taken, he was later released without being charged.

The matter will now be dealt with by Herts FA who will act following the referee’s report. The Olympian League committee will then take action following the charges raised by Herts FA.

League general secretary Dave Moxon said: “The league is both shocked and saddened by the incidents in this match. We will not tolerate this sort of behaviour and have launched a full investigation.”

In the Premier Division match that did finish on Sunday, Prince George enjoyed a 5-0 win over Inter FC, with Martin Sanservrino scoring twice and the other goals coming from Dean Connolly, Tom Carter and Paul Bullen.

Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup Round One

It was a reasonably good morning for the sides taking place in the Intermediate Cup with three of the four Olympian teams going through.

Hertfordshire Lions beat Royal Oak from the Comet Stevenage League 11-4.

Jamie Balmer opened the scoring with a header and Dennis Fraser added a second soon after. Balmer completed his brace before Oak pulled a goal back. Joe Turberfield netted his first of the morning to give Lions a 4-1 lead at the break.

Early in the second period, Adam Thornhill saw his cross turned home by an Oak defender. Fraser struck two goals in as many minutes to complete his hat-trick before Oak reduced the deficit to 7-3.

Mitchell Holt added an eighth, Dan Rosson then scored and Turberfield got his second of the contest through a fine individual strike.

Oak grabbed their fourth goal but Holt completed the rout for Lions in the final minute.

Cassiobury Revolution had a trip to Tring to face Robin Hood FC and came away with a 5-0 win.

Max Earthrowl put Cassiobury in front and Chris Massey slotted home a second for the dominant visitors.

A swift counter attack allowed Callum Hearn to notch before he turned provider for Earthrowl, who fired home. The final Revolution goal arrived when Massey slid home to complete his brace and the scoring.

Old Danes Athletic edged into the next round after overcoming Facelad FC 2-1.

After a goalless first half, Old Danes went ahead through Tom McConway. The lead didn’t last long as sloppy defending allowed the visitors to equalise.

But Old Danes grabbed a winner with 15 minutes remaining as Joel Foskett converted a penalty after McConway had been fouled.

Meriden Ballers were the only side to suffer defeat as they went down 3-2 at home to Wolfpack United. Aaron Crawford and Tom Dettmer netted the consolation goals for Meriden.
