Kings Langley put the frustration of an abandonment against Wembley behind them to beat Cockfosters 2-0 on Tuesday.

It was hosts Kings who started the brighter and came close when Mitchell Weiss fired in a tantalising low cross which required a brave stop from goalkeeper James Cattlin, with Daryl Atkins lurking.

Cockfosters dug out a couple of their own opportunities in response before Dean Hitchcock twice tried his luck from distance. His first effort crashed against the post before a second was just tipped over by Cattlin.

With 18 minutes remaining, Kings made the breakthrough at last. Connor Toomey swung in a corner and centre-back Stuart Deaton nodded beyond the Cockfosters stopper.

The gloss was applied to the scoreline when in the final minute, Weiss thumped home a second header to give Kings a second.

On Saturday, Paul Hughes and Richie Hanlon's side had been trailing 1-0 to Wembley when the fixture was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch in the 53rd minute.
