West Herts Hockey Club’s men’s side got back to winning ways in NOW Pensions National Hockey League Conference East with an impressive 4-2 win at Richmond.

In an even opening period, the Stags broke the deadlock through Max Webster.

The advantage was added to soon after thanks to Dan Webster. He received the ball from a short corner and pirouetted around a challenge before firing in to the net.

West Herts held a two-goal lead at the interval and they notched a third shortly after the restart.

The two Webster brothers combined and Dan finished from close range.

Stags continued to push forward and a fourth goal was added through Dan Webster, who completed his hat-trick with an emphatic drag flick.

West Herts eased off in the closing stages and their lax attitude was punished by two Richmond goals.

The Stags face Teddington tomorrow (Saturday), The Ladies’ side dropped their first points of the season in the East Premier after they were held to a 0-0 draw against Norwich Dragons.

West Herts created several chances but a combination of good defending from Norwich and poor finishing from the Stags meant the game ended goalless.

The club’s Under-16 Boys were more clinical as they defeated Teddington B 2-1 in a friendly.

In a competitive game, Teddington broke the deadlock before the Stags replied through Tom Watts.

After the break, Callum Woodage impressed for the Stags and Joe Sambidge capped an outstanding debut from the midfielder by scoring the goal that earned the home side their victory.
