West Herts battled to a 2-2 draw at home to Teddington in Conference East on Saturday.

The visitors drew first blood with the opening goal before Shea O’Sullivan whipped the ball across the face of goal for Terry Kynaston to tap in at the far post. Just before half-time the ball was played into the ‘D’ where deft control and a neat flick into the far corner from Max Webster gave Herts the lead.

The Stags suffered when Iain Gordon received two yellow cards in quick succession as they finished the contest with ten men.

Teddington took advantage as they scored an equaliser which sparked a frantic finale.

West Herts ladies lost their first game this season after going down 2-1 to Harleston Magpies Seconds in the East Premier Division.

The Stags opened the scoring after 44 minutes from a flicked short corner by Becky Perry.

The scores were levelled when the home side won a short corner which was converted high into the right side of Rachel Bennett’s goal.

Disaster struck for Herts when, from a desperate hit out of defence, Harleston won a penalty corner on the stroke of full-time and a carbon-copy of their first goal gave the home side all three points.

The men’s Seconds’ match at Witham was abandoned due to fog with them winning 5-1 at half-time.

The Thirds secured a 3-1 victory at rivals Berkhamsted to move top of Division Three SW.

Having gone behind early, the Stags soon made amends as Gok Kannan slotted home on his debut. Matt Jackson then scored with virtually his first touch after coming off the bench to make it 2-1.

The third Herts goal came from a fast counter attack, as the speedy Kannan drove to the by-line to set up Richard Ambrose.

West Herts Fourths defeated Welwyn Garden City Thirds 4-2 in Division 5SW, with Chris Currie (2), Hayden Langford and Joe Higgins on target.

The Fifths lost 3-2 at Berkhamsted Thirds in Division 6SW – Ross Eavis and Andy Larkin scoring.

The Sixths were thrashed 5-0 at home to Shefford & Sandy Seconds in Division 7SW, but the Sevenths defeated Berkhamsted Fifths 3-1 in Division 9SW. Ashwin Batey, Jamie Marriott and Ralph Curwen were on target for the victors.

The ladies Seconds drew 1-1 with Bishop’s Stortford Seconds after an equaliser from Olivia Owen.

West Herts ladies Thirds won 2-0 at Bishop’s Stortford Thirds after a brace from Samantha Blissett.

The Fourths won 3-0 at Potters Bar Thirds through Vicky Vettese (2) and Sheena Hambleton.

West Herts ladies Fifths lost their unbeaten record after a 2-0 defeat to Broxbourne Fifths.

A goal from Ambrose fired West Herts to a 1-0 win at Bury St Edmunds in the NOW: Pensions Masters Over-40s Cup second round on Sunday.
