Herts Senior Sunday Cup Round Three

The wet weather decimated the Watford Sunday League's fixture list for a second successive week, but AFC Spartians had no problem with the conditions as they breezed through to the fourth round of the Senior Cup with a 9-0 victory at AP Construction.

Spartians may currently be languising at the foot of the Premier Division, but they were in fine form as Krasimir McAvie led the onslaught with a hat-trick. He was supported by braces from both Paul Spicer and Matt Green, with Leo Simao and Liam Stapleton also pitching in with one apiece.

Spartians will hope this fine result will give them some impetus for the remainder of their league campaign.

Division Two

Four teams from mid-table competed in the only two games possible in this division and Colne Valley are now level on points with Langleybury Cricket Club after beating them 6-2.

There were two goals each from Luke Clark and Karl Booth and singles from Tom Seamons and Dave Rooney, thereby maintaining his position as the division’s top goal scorer. Matt Honey and Gary Cook scored for Langleybury.

Rickmansworth Athletic’s slump continued when losing 3-1 at home to RD FC, who threw off the disappointment of the previous week’s early exit from the Herts Intermediate Cup and returned to winning ways.

Goals from RD's Michael Eales, Elliot Myrants-Wilson and Chris Parker gave them the three points whilst Paul Davidson was on target for the home side.

Division Three

A match between two teams near the bottom of the division saw Railway Arms bounce back from defeat seven days earlier with a 4-2 win at Sun Postal United.

Goals from Ali John and Chris West could not prevent the Railway taking all the points thanks to two each from Ben Williams and Lewis Stiles.

Division Four

There was a surprise in this division as table-topping Bell Rangers went down 7-4 at home to Hertsmere (Sunday).

Having lost only one match previously, Bell must have been looking forward to another comfortable win against a team who had yet to to taste victory, but were beaten in a topsy-turvy encounter.

Free-scoring Michael Adeyemi led the way for Hertsmere with a hat-trick, Marcus Mengal netted twice and there was one each for Ryan Walsh and George Degnan. Harrison Harrison (2), Joel Soaper and Lewis Soaper netted for their opponents.

Playing away from home, Sun Postal Sports took advantage of Bell’s slip and now lead the division with a game in hand following a 5-3 win over Garston United.

Luke Frey netted twice to add to his hat-trick from the previous week, there was one each from Jamie Dixon and Karin El-Janfali and Luke Peerless also scored a single to stay top of the division's scoring charts. Matt McManus and John Davy were on target for the home team.
