Division One

Roundbush won a first league game since February 2013 after a shock 3-2 win over WD Athletic.

The last time Bush achieved three points was against Bushey Olympians - also 3-2 - and, ironically, the Bushey manager that day was Graham Jackson, who is now in charge of Sunday's victors.

Roundbush started positively when a mix-up in the WD defence saw Blaise Shervington manage to get a toe on the ball and poke it under the goalkeeper's legs. This was followed soon after by a second goal from Shervington, who ran onto a ball from Tom Allen, and proceeded to lob the onrushing keeper from 20 yards out.

Shervington then completed his first-half hat-trick from a corner, which was only half-cleared, and he smashed it into the top corner on the half-volley.

In the second half WD pushed forward to find the goals to level the scores but their task was made harder when then had a player sent off for two bookable offences. But as is often the case when a team is reduced to ten men, WD rallied and pulled a goal back through Aaron Berry after some sloppy defending.

Roundbush missed good chances to kill the game off but WD kept going forward and scored a second when a hopeful ball from Alex Gilmany into the box missed everyone and sailed into the back of the net.

Despite pressure from WD, their opponents held on for a deserved win to the break their winless league run.

Carpenders Park Rangers Reserves are on a good run of form and they beat Woodlands Laurels 5-2.

Matt Westwood hit a hat-trick for Rangers, with Joe Barton and Harley Mead scoring the other goals. Yash Stockdale and Daryl Lee replied for Woodlands.

Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup Round Three

Hertfordshire Lions suffered heartbreak in a penalty shoot-up after a 4-4 draw with The Bull & Jacks.

It looked like being a good morning for Lions, who had taken a 2-0 lead early in the second half thanks to an early headed goal from George Benedetti and a second after the restart from half-time substitute Jamie Balmer. But the home rallied, scoring twice in quick succession to take the tie to extra-time.

Bull & Jacks went ahead for the first time in the additional 30 minutes, only for Jack Middleton to equalise with an overhead kick.

That pattern continued in the second period of extra-time as Bull & Jacks retook the lead to go 4-3 up, but again they were pegged back by a Sam Crafts volley.

The home side scored the first kick in the shoot-out, with Lions missing twice, then Bull & Jacks scored again, before Louis McNamara did net from the spot. But the fourth kick for the home side was enough to put them through.

Old Danes Athletic lost 4-2 to Jam United and, like Hertfordshire Lions, they managed to let a two-goal advantage slip. Colin Spooner was on target with both goals.

President’s Cup Group A

Bovingdon comfortably overcame Inter 4-0.

Mark McNichols put Bovingdon ahead in the first half and after the break they managed to break Inter’s brave resistance with a brace from Tom Gray and one from Lewis Rae.

Leaders Prince George battled to a 2-0 win over Meriden Ballers, as goals from Bradley Henwood, woth a long-range effort, and a late penalty from Luke Everitt ensured a six-point advantage at the summit.

Second-placed Bushey Grove easily overcame Cassiobury Revolution 9-1.

Connor Shinkwin and Harrison Jones both scored doubles, with Dave King, Sean Shinkwin, Scott Cain, Robert Ladmore and Luc Grant netting a goal apiece. Raghav Joshi scored the sole Revolution goal.

Chairman’s Cup Group B

United might be sweeping all before them in the league but in the President’s Cup it is a different matter as they suffered a second group stage defeat, this to time Watford Labour Club 2-1.

Mark Bedford put new group leaders Labour ahead in the first half, before United equalised in the second period through Andrew Owusu. But with just two minutes left Ian Smithard struck Watford's winner.
