On Saturday, Oxhey Jets fell at the first hurdle as they attempted to retain the St Mary’s Cup, exiting the competition 2-1 at the hands of Sun Sports.

In a flat first half Sun hit the bar, whilst Jets saw Jordan Gutteridge and Lee Armitt come agonisingly close to opening the scoring.

After the break it took a sizeable slice of luck for Sun to break the deadlock as centre-back Scott Bonner saw his clearance from the halfway line fly over the head of Jets goalkeeper Will Baker, thanks in no small part to wind assistance.

Soon after it was 2-0 as Ashley Lewis drove across the field and let fly to double Sun’s advantage.

But just five minutes later the hosts made the contest interesting as Armitt slotted home having been played in by Luke Lloyd.

The usually clinical Tim O’Mara passed up a pair of good chances and Jets were unable to find an equaliser as they crashed out at the quarter-final stage.

Jets travel to Cockfosters on Saturday in the Premier Division. Sun make the trip to London Tigers on Tuesday evening.

Berkhamsted were unable to take advantage of Kings’ Premier Division slip up as they were also beaten, going down to a 3-2 defeat at home to Biggleswade United.

Josh Chamberlain scored his 22nd goal of a prolific campaign, cancelling out Biggleswade’s opener inside ten minutes.

The visitors re-took the lead after Berko’s Ashley Morrissey was twice denied by the visiting keeper.

Biggleswade snatched a third from the penalty spot before the Comrades halved the deficit via Ryan Laville. Berko did see a Morrissey effort disallowed for offside but could not secure a share of the spoils.

Berkhamsted host Hertford Town on Saturday.

Leverstock Green continued their winning start to the new year, beating Stotfold 2-1 on Saturday.

Billy Smith and Chris Pinching efforts sealed the win for Levy, who saw Tuesday’s Herts Senior Cup quarter-final with Berkhamsted lost to the rain.

Levy are at Wembley on Saturday and host AFC Dunstable on Tuesday.

Tring Athletic lost 1-0 at Colney Heath on Saturday to a 79th-minute goal.

Tuesday’s fixture at London Tigers fell foul of the weather and Tring will hope to return to action on Saturday at home to Hillingdon Borough.

Holmer Green make the trip to Cow Lane on Tuesday night.
