Bushey golfer Callum Shinkwin finished third last at the end of the first round at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship after shooting a five-over-par 77.
The tournament, which began yesterday (Thursday) and finishes on Sunday, is Shinkwin’s first of 2015 and marks his return to action after almost three months.
Shinkwin, 21, last competed in the Final Qualifying Stage at the PGA Catalunya Resort in November, and missed out on the European Tour after failing to gain his full tour card for 2015.
Last season he earned €59,347 in prize money, which was only enough to finish in 34th place in the rankings.
German Martin Kaymer currently leads the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship after shooting an eight-under-par 64 in the opening round.
Shinkwin will tee off for the second round on Friday at 11.45am local time, 3.45pm GMT.
