Kings Langley Ladies saw their first Herts Women’s Cup quarter-final end in heartbreak, losing 15-0 against Hoddesdon Owls Ladies on Sunday.
A combination of determined defending and heroics from goalkeeper Abbie Tarsey limited the visitors to a 5-0 lead at half time.
The second half saw Kings’ numbers reduced through illness and injury and Hoddesdon took full, ruthless advantage.
Manager Chris Walker said: “They were a high calibre of opponent, but at this stage of the County Cup you wouldn’t expect anything else. To get to the quarter-final is a massive achievement for this club and one they should be proud of but now we must fight hard to move up the table.”
Kings return to action at home to AFC Kempston Girls & Ladies on Sunday.
