Premier Division

Old Danes Athletic and Hertfordshire Lions both had comfortable wins to keep the Premier Division wide open in probably the tightest races in years.

Athletic are still unbeaten in the league and remain at the summit after a 5-2 victory over Meriden Ballers, who played the entire game with just ten players.

Joel Foskett and Chris White gave Old Danes a 2-0 lead by the break. In the second half further goals followed from Daniel Billington, Rob Rossister and Lewis Chappell van Gilst.

Meriden, who never gave up despite being a man down, were rewarded for their efforts with goals from Jason Gullin and Junior Bullen.

Hertfordshire Lions got the better of Cassiobury Revolution 3-0.

Louis McNamara's through ball set up Dennis Fraser for the first goal when he calmly slotted home. Tom Carroll scored the second with a strike from outside the area into the top corner after half an hour. The third goal followed in the second half when a long goal kick up to Fraser allowed the striker to beat two defenders and score from close range.

President’s Cup Group A

Prince George beat Inter 4-1, although their fate in the competition now lies in the hands of the league's management committee.

The officers need to decide the outcome of the unplayed game against Bushey Grove, which was called off on January 25 because Prince George had been suspended by the Herts FA.

Luke Everitt led the way for Prince George yesterday, taking his tally to the season to 26 with a brace, his first goal breaking the deadlock after 35 minutes. The other two goals came from Martin Sanservino and Paul Bullen, while a late Gareth Heavey penalty gave Inter their consolation.

Division One

Roundbush notched up a second league win of the season after a 3-2 victory over Dynamo Croxley, again showing why they are probably the most inconsentient team across the league.

Blaise Shevrington put Bush ahead with a lob before Alex Carbott equalised. Dynamo then missed a penalty before further Bush goals followed from Shevrington and Shane Perrin.

Croxley did pull a goal back late on through Dexter Franklin-Beck but it was not enough to deny Bush the win.

WD Athletic beat Carpenders Park Rangers Reserves 4-3.

Pat Turner scored a brace, with Alex Gilmaney and Aaron Berry getting the WD efforts. Two-goal Joe Barton and Sidney Burton were on target for Rangers.

Chairman’s Cup Group B

United beat Watford Labour Club 7-1 in the game to decide who would top the group and thus determine their semi-final opponents.

United’s win means they now face WD Athletic in the last four, with Watford taking on Carpenders Park Rangers Reserves.

Charles Linsley scored the Labour goal deep into injury time with his team already 7-0 down after United had netted through two braces from Lee Woodward and Matt Byrne, and singles from George Mundy, Steven Ward and Matt McShane.

However, it was United’s 17-year-old wing-back Joe Ray who had another impressive game and looks to be a great prospect, despite managing to hit the crossbar from almost right on the goal line in the first half.
