Chairman’s Cup Semi Finals

WD Athletic pulled off a major shock in thrashing United 4-1 to set up a final tie against Watford Labour Club.

Meanwhile, Watford Labour Club secured their place in the final by overcoming Carpenders Park Rangers 2-1 in the other semi-final tie.

United headed into their semi-final tie having beaten WD 8-1 before Christmas but WD it was who took the lead with a long-range effort from Alex Halifax.

Normal service looked to have been resumed when Matt Byrne headed in the equaliser for United but WD were not done.

Two goals before half time turned the game on its head, with Danny Hall and Pat Turner netting before the break. Jed Booth added a fourth in the second period to complete the job.

In the second semi-final, Labour started the stronger of the two sides and went in front when Mark Bedford scored following good work from Paul Collett.

But Carpenders Park drew level before half time when top-scorer Harley Mead struck.

Although Labour had the better of the second half, the game looked to be set for extra time until Carl Conibere nodded into the path of John Barker to snatch a dramatic winner.

The final will be played at Kings Langley on April 12.

Title contenders Hertfordshire Lions came back from 2-0 down to draw with Bovingdon.

Tommy Gray and Ollie Hammond struck to put Bovingdon in control of the game but Lions made sure of a point thanks to George Benedetti’s brace.

The draw does neither such much good, with league-leaders Prince George crushing Cassiobury Revolution 8-0.

Luke Everitt bagged a hat-trick, with Nelson De Santos, Ross Pinching and Chris Cummins signficantly boosting Prince George’s goal difference.

Prince George remain top of the table owing to their superior goal difference over Bushey Grove in second.

Bushey Grove endured a slightly harder task but were still able to overcome rivals Meridan Ballers 3-1.

Dave Smith, Sean Shinkwin and James Anderson scored Bushey’s goals; Jason Gullin responsible for the solitary Meridan strike.
