After their five-goal demolition of Ampthill Town a fortnight ago, Kings Langley went one better on Tuesday, mauling London Tigers 6-1.

Victory means Kings maintain their four-point gap atop the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, having played three games less than second-placed AFC Dunstable.

Kings were 3-0 up after 21 minutes against Ampthill and established a two-goal lead after just 19 minutes at Gaywood Park on Tuesday to set the tone for another fine win.

Backed by a bumper crowd, swelled by the offer of free admission, Kings took the lead as early as the fourth minute thanks to Dean Hitchcock’s low shot.

Fifteen minutes later, Alex Campana played a sublime through ball into the path of Mitchell Weiss and he doubled Kings’ lead by rounding the visiting goalkeeper.

Danny Hutchins grabbed the third after four second-half minutes and then Campana got in on the act two minutes later by finishing off Sam Warrell’s cross.

Rampant Kings had a fifth before the hour mark as Hutchins converted a penalty awarded for handball. The final quarter was a tamer affair but there was still time for two goals.

First John Startin pulled one back for the visitors, before Daryl Atkins tucked home Kings’ sixth from close range.

Ritchie Hanlon and Paul Hughes' men are at home to Harefield United (Saturday).

In fourth place, Sun Sports picked up a good win at Harefield United to close the gap on the top three by winning 2-0.

Paul Hobbs’ team are currently a point behind the third-placed side but have played four games less than them and one less than second-placed AFC Dunstable.

A brace from Craig Lynskey either side of half time sealed the points for Sun, who are away to Hadley on Wednesday.

Lee Armitt hit a hat-trick for Oxhey Jets after coming off the substitutes’ bench in a stunning 5-1 rout of Colney Heath.

It was Luke Beardsworth who opened the scoring after 19 minutes, only for Colney Heath to level three minutes later.

Tied 1-1 at the break, Armitt entered the fray and had Jets back in front by the 59th minute, rounding the goalkeeper to net.

With 17 minutes remaining Armitt grabbed his second before Sim Armstrong lashed in a fourth just two minutes later. The rout was complete when Armitt lobbed home his third late on.

Jets travel to Hoddeson Town tomorrow before hosting London Tigers on Tuesday evening.
