Watford ended their three-match losing run with a 30-25 win at home to Saracens Amateurs in Herts Middlesex Two on Saturday.

The hosts made a bright start and were rewarded when scrum-half Ollie Hopkins released Martin Lee and he crossed the line for the opening try.

It was not long before captain Lee addeed his second of the match after a fine pass from Simon Bram.

Saracens responded quickly with a try of their own to halve the deficit to 10-5.

With time running out in the half, the ball was worked wide to Gary Wilson and he crossed the line to give Watford a ten-point lead heading into the second half.

The visitors narrowed the gap after the restart when Watford lost possession and Saracens took full advantage to score an opportunistic try.

The home side clinched the bonus point when the ball was worked out to winger Richard Yates and his pace took him away from the defence for a superb individual try.

Watford then had Gary Wilson sent to the sin bin for a deliberate knock on. Sarries made the most of this advantage by scoring through a rolling maul.

The hosts added a penalty but another Saracens try brought them within three points of Watford.

Watford gave themselves some more breathing space when Yates intercepted the ball and he raced away to score again under the posts.

Saracens secured the bonus point with their fourth try of the game but Watford held out to claim a hard-fought win.
