Premier Division

The title battle now looks to be a three-horse race between Old Danes Athletic, Hertfordshire Lions and Bovingdon after Prince George and Bushey Grove both suffered big defeats to fellow rivals for the championship.

Hertfordshire Lions achieved a very significant win by beating Bushey Grove 2-1. The three points moved Lions up to fourth in the table, five points behind leaders Old Danes, but with a game in hand.

After a cagey first half, the game exploded into life in the second period as Jamie Balmer’s free-kick for Lions hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced clear.

It was Bushey who went ahead ten minutes into the half with Rob Ladmore slotting home a Paul Kenwright pass. Lions equalised five minutes later when Sam Crafts scored with an overhead kick, but Bushey then had a golden chance to restore the lead from the penalty spot only for Sean Shinkwin's strike to hit the post.

With ten minutes left a breakaway allowed Dennis Fraser to set up Balmer for what proved to be the winning goal, although Lions needed a goalline clearance from Joe Turberfield deep into injury time to preserve the three points.

Prince George’s once promising season is coming apart at the seams after another poor result, this time a 4-0 home defeat by Bovingdon, although they do remain in second place in the table.

Chris Truman put Bovingdon ahead from the penalty spot and it was followed by a second before half-time from Mark McNicholas.

In the second half two further goals followed through Darren Keen and a second from Truman helped keep their side right in the title chase.

Leaders Old Danes were made to work for a 3-0 win over bottom-placed Cassiobury Revolution.

The home side preserved a clean sheet until the second half before a brace from Colin Spencer and a single from Chris White finally broke the Revolution resistance.

Meriden Ballers, who are the only team in the Premier Division with nothing left to play for, easily beat second-bottom Inter 4-0, with the goals coming from Tom Dettmer (2), John Hall and Aarron Crawford.

United’s 3-1 win over Dynamo Croxley leaves them on the brink of the title, which they can clinch on Sunday with victory over Roundbush.

Steven Ward, with two, and George Mundy preserved their side's winning run in the league, with Dynamo’s sole reward coming in the final minute from Robert Hugill.

Bedmond beat Carpenders Park Rangers Reserves 5-2 as they aim to finish as runners-up.

The victors raced into a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to a brace from Jordan Davies, but Carpenders Park were level before the break through Harley Mead and Gavin Bowen.

Davies scored twice more in the second half with the other goal coming from Kostadin Karapetkov.

Watford Labour Club beat Woodlands Laurels 2-0 thanks to a goal in each half from Mark Hofman and Ben Thornhill.
