Fullerians stayed top of London North West Three after a 26-10 home win over Datchworth on Saturday.

The hosts started well and immediately put the visitors on the back foot. Datchworth were caught coming over the top of the ruck and centre Craig Duncan kicked the penalty to edge Fullers in front.

The hosts extended their lead further after a delicate chip by fly-half Luc Jacobs put right wing Tom Williams over in the corner after outpacing the covering defence.

Datchworth got themselves back in the match when they caught the home side napping in defence. Quick thinking by their scrum-half saw him go over the line from a tap penalty five metres out for a converted try.

Fullers put their opponents under pressure and this led to a penalty for offside, which Duncan booted over the posts.

But three points from the visitors kept it tight at the break with the home side leading 11-10.

Fullerians extended their lead early on in the second half when they caught and drove, with prop Phil Holby getting the final touch for the try.

The hosts tucked over another penalty before scoring again after a superb run from full-back Dan Evans, which was converted by Duncan.

Fullers nearly earned a bonus point but they were thwarted by a forward pass near the tryline.

Head coach Rich Hoskins said: “We played within ourselves in the early exchanges but grew in confidence as the game went on. Our substitutes made a good impact to game and got us moving to earn the win.”

Fullers turn their attention to the regional vase final tomorrow (Saturday) when they face Bromley at Coningesby Drive.
